How can people misunderstand Tyrion and Cersei’s power dynamic so epically?

Jesus Christ, talk about deliberately misreading the text/show.  “But you have more power than Cersei.  You’re Hand of the King.”  Because he totally got that position through his own merits, amirite? It’s not like that could be taken from him at any moment because he LITERALLY HAS NO CONTROL OVER HIS OWN LIFE?

“Boohoo, I’m a dwarf, I’m ugly.”  Yeah, in Westeros, that’s a pretty damn legitimate complaint.  Every bit as legitimate as “Boohoo, I’m a woman, I don’t have the power I deserve.”

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck this fandom.

I really don’t understand, because I thought the point Martin was making is that they’re BOTH fighting each other SO MUCH, both trying to grasp power in this epic continent-wide power struggle, and BOTH FAILING.  Neither of them has the upper hand.  Tyrion plays Cersei in regards to Myrcella, and Cersei plays Tyrion in regards to Alayaya/Shae (like, they both try to go for what’s precious to the other), and in the meantime Tywin’s playing above them, and Varys and Littlefinger are playing ABOVE EVERYONE.  Both Cersei and Tyrion are just so epically screwed, and I weep for them both.

And they both think they’re playing the game so well.  That they’ve got it all figured out.

What is it you say, Lauren?  MY SWEET, GOLDEN FOOLS.
